FAQ

The Low-Profile Cable Management Access Floor systems include: ECO series, Camass series, and CamassCrete series.

Why Low-Profile?

In the past, the old cable management solutions, such as "Embed Floor Trucking", "Power Pole", "Flat Cable", and etc., are not capable to handle the sharply increasing amounts of cables in the offices. Large and intensive amounts of data and power wires flow into the office due to internet and intranet booming. The Conventional Raised Access Floors (CRF) have been quickly stretched it's application to the offices in order to "cover" the large amounts of cables. When CRF using for cables management applications, on-floor "Cable Trunk" shall be installed under the RF to manage the cables.

To summarize, CRF is basically as a "cover" to the cables, not "manage".

NETFLOOR Low-Profile cable “management” access floor systems could effectively meet high demands of openings for cable extension or to fix outlet service boxes as a connection to desk-tops or workstations.

Our Low-Profile systems floor height from 40 mm (1.57”) to 100 mm (4”), and focus on 40mm (1.57"), 50mm (2"), 60mm (2.36"), 76-100 mm (3"-4") height, aims to conserve the ceiling height and maximize floor-ceiling clearance for workspace for both new building and for office renovation applications.

Although in low height, the systems do not sacrifice the cable capacity. Cables are distributing through the fully accessible cable trenches and protected by steel trench caps.

  • For ECO series, the clearance under cable trench is (FFH minus 9mm).For example, if applied ECO CA600R (6mm height), the clearance is 51mm with 90mm width space available for cable layout. If using (CAT6) cable, total 40 lines cable can stack (at least) under cable trench per 600mm wide module.
  • For Camass and CamassCrete series, the clearance under cable trench is (FFH minus 12mm) and the clearance under UniPanel is (FFH minus 28mm).

The Conventional Raised Access Floors (CRF) are unable or unsuitable to install at Low-Profile and provide less capacity.

What are the advantages and benefits? Why Netfloor Low-Profile systems are better solution for office environment?

Netfloor Low-Profile floor system owns the following advantages and benefits compare to the convention raised access floors, absolutely a better solution for office environment.

  • Module set and unique grid-pattern cable trench system design make installation easy and keep high cabling capacity.
  • Maximize your workspace with Low-Profile floor systems
  • Environment Friendly: Netfloor Systems are 100% recyclable.
  • ECO series own "Green Mark" listed and LEED compliance.
  • UniPanel (main panel) of ECO series are made of recycled polypropylene. For re-location, components of ECO series are more than 95 % re-usable, and 100% recyclable.
  • Non-glue installation and on damage to subfloor.
  • User Friendly :
  • Light weight for easy installation, Low-Profile are gifting benefits of Netfloor systems specially for old office renovation and upgrading.
  • High accessibility : Cables are available to extend and connect to open office everywhere, by just replacing the Flank Cap with Exit-Cap and using your hand or screw driver without special tools.
  • Cost Effective : Less 1/3 installation time, saving 2/3 material and labor cost, low maintenance, and almost 100% reusable (ECO series).

What is main components and system for Low-Profile floor systems?

Our Low-Profile floor systems are composed of four main components:
UniPanel (main Panel), Base Connector, Central Cap, Flank Cap.
Grid-Pattern cable trench system : cable trench are formed automatically while installing Base Connectors and UniPanels, the 90 mm width cable trench surrounding every 600 mm X 600 module facilitates future move, additions and changes.

Are Netfloor Low-Profile systems LEED Compliance?

Yes, Netfloor Low-Profile systems are LEED compliance.
The systems can maximize your Green Building application LEED Credit Points.
Please refer to Appendix 2 : Maximize your LEED credit point

Can Netfloor Cable Management Floor Systems cope with uneven sub-floors? Why not install in total leveling?

There are two types of Cable Management Floor Systems:

  • ECO series

ECO series can absorb the uneven sub-floors to certain level, which UniPanel (main panel) are made of 16 sub-panels. The sub-panels are structurally independent but united as one UniPanel by 2 mm (0.07") thick joints at top. When installed, the sub-panels are able to absorb the floor uneven substantially.

But when installing ECO below 60 mm (2.36") height, it is not feasible to install access floor at leveling because the floor deviation often more than 30 mm (1.18"), or even up to 50mm (2").

  • Camass series and CamassCrete series

The systems have pedestals, which are height adjustable, and changeable for finish floor height at 40 mm (1.57") up to 150 mm (6"). When installing at height 40 mm (1.57")~ 76 mm (3"), the systems shall be installed by follow the floor contour. When installing at height 76 ~ 150 mm (3"-6"), the leveling installation can be achieved.

Are the Main Panels (UniPanel) and Cable Trenches fully interchangeable?

Netfloor systems main panel (UniPanel) and Steel Caps (Flank Cap, Central Cap) are identical size and fully interchangeable.

In case of re-location, are Netfloors re-useable? How is the cost?

In case of re-location, more than 95% of Netfloor components are re-usable.
Total re-location, labor and transportation costs of Netfloor Systems are generally 1/3 less costs comparing tothe conventional raised access floors.

How do you deal with perimeters?

Generally cutting panels on site to suit perimeter details and fill residual gaps by standard accessories. All UniPanel (main panel) of Netfloor systems are self-standing. No need for lateral support from the walls.

Which standard are Netfloor systems conform to?

Same as other Low-Profile Cable Management Floors, Netfloor is easily or automatically categorized as "Access Floor", partially is right, but not totally correct.

  • Panels of Netfloor Cable Management systems are self-stand. Pedestals are built-in at the panel and can be safely standing independently, while conventional access floors are not.
  • Netfloor Systems are Low-Profile of lower than 100 mm (4") height. There is no under-floor air diffusion under Netfloor Systems. The conventional raised access floor was originally designed to use in old computer rooms or hi-tech factories, and often are required to be installed at greater than 300 mm (11.81") height and with under-floor air diffusions. Design concept and fundamental functions of Netfloor Systems are basically different from the conventional access floor.

So, we may set standards by consulting the conventional access floors but not necessarily exactly the same:

  • Fire resistance requirements:
  • Netfloor ECO series CA-600R, CA-500R, and CA-400R are suitable to use in the general office and school applications.
  • To conform to special city codes particularly required non-combustible such as the New York City MEA regulations; State of California and etc., Camass and CamassCrete series meet the criteria.
  • Loading property:

Requirements of loading property on Netfloor Systems Low-Profile systems shall not be necessary to be same criteria applied on conventional access floors, which are made to accept extra heavy or heavy equipments and/or facilities in the control rooms or manufacturing factories. All Netfloor systems conform to the loading property required for using in the offices and schools.

Are Netfloor Low-Profile systems fire resistant?

There are different norms of fire resistance codes between countries.
Same as all other access floor systems, Netfloor Low-Profile systems are not considered as a permanent barrier that can protect the space above from fire. Netfloor systems are fire resistant and have met the fire resistant codes according to each different country or city fire codes.

What safety criteria do Netfloor systems have met in case of fire?

Netfloor ECO series meet NFPA E-253 class A and BS476 Part 7, B2
Netfloor Camass and CamassCrete are rated as non-combustible. Meet BS476, Part 4, ASTM E-84 class 1.
In addition to the general office areas, Camass and CamassCrete series are suitable to use at the corridor, aisle, high-rise office building with or without sprinkler, or public areas of three hour fire rating.

Please refer to Appendix 4 : Fire Retard

How do you cope with static? In which cases an anti-static raised floor is advisable?

Human walking, computers, and other electronic equipment may generate electrostatic charges, which may produce electric charges on peoples. In modern office environments, it must be said that most of the finish materials available in the market are statistics resistant. All commercial carpet tiles are statistics resistant and suitable for office environments.
Netfloor Systems are installed under the carpet tiles, no direct contact and abrasion to the traffic. So, in general office occasion, Netfloor Systems are not advisable to be anti-static. However, in highly condense computerized office and school, anti-static rated carpet tile shall be used as surface floors.

Earthing is required for Netfloor Low-Profile system?

Netfloor low-profile access floor systems Camass, CamassCrete, ECO systems,

are not part of the grounding electrode system and no need grounding to the system.

They are not a metal frame of the building (structural metal) which may intentionally grounded.

For all wiring, service boxes running in the Netfloor system, the electrician shall do the

grounding conform to the applicable sections in accordance with NEC article 100 and/or local code.
